Jennifer has spent the last 25 years as a writer and feminist activist. Her work has included strategic communications and development for several advocacy organizations. She returned to academia in 2010 and completed a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Marylhurst University on the subject of women’s incomplete history and musical roots of radical feminist consciousness. As co-founder of Queen Jane Music Studios, Jennifer has had a lifelong relationship with music. She has both studied and experienced how music has influenced and mirrored social movements throughout different cultures and times. From Nina Simone and Bob Dylan during the U.S. civil rights and anti-war movements, to punk and hip-hop, labor songs, and contemporary activist artists, she believes music is an act of resistance.

Lisa Douglass (she/her) is Queen Jane’s Visual Director, designer, website wrangler, social media helper, newsletter tinkerer, and general keeper-of-the-visual-vibe. A graphic designer, illustrator, musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Lisa helps bring Queen Jane’s events, spaces, posters, emails, and online presence to life with a mix of practical organization, playful design, and deep appreciation for places that feel welcoming, weird, creative, and real. Lisa has played music all her life, beginning with the legendary family-room act Steve and Steve — a childhood band featuring Lisa on guitar and vocals, her little brother on a full Muppet Show drum kit, and frequent performances for their parents, complete with commercial breaks. It was also her first graphic design gig: hand-drawn posters hung all over the house announcing, “Steve and Steve! Tonight! 7pm. Lisa’s room.” From there, Lisa went on to form and play in many bands in Portland and Seattle, including indie rock bands Jiffy and Goodwin, pop-punk band Shower Scum, and the Christmas pop cover band Blitzen. When she’s not making Queen Jane things look more Queen Janey, Lisa is usually working on art projects, creating cat dioramas, playing guitar, collecting unclassifiable little inspirations, making friends with cats, or finding new ways to turn everyday life into something a little more cozy and delightful.

Shep is Queen Jane’s Assistant Events Coordinator, door greeter, morale booster, and unofficial Director of Tiny Tail Wags. His duties include welcoming guests, supervising the general vibe, accepting admiration, offering emotional support, and making sure everyone understands that Queen Jane is a very serious professional establishment that also happens to have an excellent dog on staff. Shep takes his job extremely seriously, especially when snacks, applause, or gentle forehead kisses are involved.
